Resources for indie filmmakers

  • DV info.net An internet forum full of information. Many of the regular posters are professional cinematographers working on Hollywood feature films. This is place to hear about cutting edge film technology.
  • Dependent Films Contains a set of very useful forms and templates for production documents for script formating, talent releases, and much more.
  • Sonny Boo A little tough to navigate, but an excellent all around resource for film advice
  • IFP.org An independent film advocacy organization. Contains a few good resources for grants and financing.
  • Cinematography.com I don’t know if its supposed to be ironic that a bunch of cinematographers hang out on such an ugly website, but this is where you go if you have questions about 35mm or 16m film. Be sure to check out the forum
  • Creative Cow A great site for motion graphics, and visual effects tutorials. Specially good for After Effects and Photoshop.
  • Killer Film My other website is a horror review website. We review indie horror, so if you’ve plan on releasing an indie horror flick drop us a line.

Louisiana Resources

  • Louisiana Production IndexThe best source for contacts in Louisiana Film production. Everything you need from equipment to film crew.
  • Louisiana Film and Television Another Great resource for contacts, as well as information regarding tax incentives, location scouting, and studios.
  • BigFoot Productions A video production company which I work with regularly. Its run by my good friend Donny Broussard. Bigfoot does behind the scenes, documentaries, short films, and features.
  • H.U.R.D Film Meetup Group A message board run by great people dedicated to the advancement of film in Louisiana. Also, a place where alot of good actors hang out.
  • LIFT Productions A very large independent film and television studio. This is the company that most of the big studios work through in order to take advantage of Louisiana film tax incentives. However, it does offer some good facilities for us smaller guys out there.
